Badens is a village in the beautiful Minervois region.
We are just 12kms from the magnificent medieval walled city of Carcassonne, the largest in Europe. It is protected for posterity by UNESCO as is the Canal du Midi, which is even closer.

The Canal links the Atlantic Ocean to the Mediterranean and is lined for practically it's entire length with magnificent plane trees that Napoleon had planted. |
| To the south are the largely ruined castles of the Cathars, in their spectacular settings, as is Rennes-le-Chateau, with its intruiging history of found treasure as chronicled in 'Holy Blood and the Holy Grail'. | ![]() |

The beaches of Narbonne and Guissan are about 40mins away with their gently shelving beaches ideal for children. There are many 'Etangs' (salt water lagoons) along this coast which host wading birds and flamingos as well as being ideal for watersports such as windsurfing. |
| The cosmopolitan cities of Toulouse and Montpelier are both about an hours drive away and even Barcelona is possible for a day trip. Whilst in Spain, however, it would be a shame to miss the opportunity to visit the stunning Salvador Dali Museum in Figueras. |
